Club Information

       In August of 1991, a group of HAMS came together at the home of WA5TQA, Van Lacour. They formed an Amateur Radio Club with temporary officers and named it, The Louisiana Capital Area OMIK A.R.C. Later the charter members agreed and applied for a frequency pairs. They purchased a  Motorola micro repeater and installed it in Jones Hall on Southern University Campus. The club now has a charter, constitution and is incorporated thus the new name Capital Area OMIK Association, Inc. The club has participated in several Hi-Fiver events, work with Red Cross, the I Care program, OMIK school Days, Several Ham Radio Demonstrations with Elementary, High School and University students.

       The club repeater WA5TQA 145.450- with Echolink was a great asset after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

       Capital Area OMIK is affiliated with the OMIK Amateur Radio Association, Inc.
